Offering a refined Seto interpretation of Karatsu’s warm, organic aesthetic, each bowl takes the form of a wide, low cone resting on a small foot and is finished in a warm cream glaze with a subtle fine crackle (kannyu). A thin band of iron-brown paints the rim, while the interior features angular unglazed patches that expose the raw buff clay beneath—evoking the poetic image of paper scraps laid gently upon the surface.

Because these exposed sections differ on each bowl, the set reads as five unique variations on a single artistic theme. The set is presented in its original signed paulownia wooden box (tomobako).

This set can be viewed in person at our gallery wanova TOKYO in Roppongi by appointment.

W00314

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0800/3623/3436/files/sakusuke-kato-seto-karatsu-mukozuke-shallow-bowls-w00314-01.jpg?v=1789265568
